2K Hires Popular Battle Royale Developer to Revitalize Troubled Action Game Ambitious Title
2K Games has welcomed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the anticipated third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Follows Mixed Response
The new appointee steps into the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster early showing last autumn.
On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer notified staff about this decision through an internal memo, which emphasized that playtesting had revealed the necessity for a more defined vision.
The president stated that the team is now reimagining the project with a refreshed approach, aiming to satisfy community desires.
Trend of Strategic Hires
This announcement follows a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
